Election of Vestry Members
One of the purposes of the annual meeting is the
election of the vestry. The Trinity Vestry consists of 15 members, five
members elected each year for three-year terms. The five members of the
current vestry whose terms expire at the end of the current year are not eligible to be reelected to the vestry for the following year. Those members serve as the Nominating Committee. Canon 18.4 states: “Except when otherwise specified by
existing charter, those entitled to vote should be confirmed
Communicants in good standing of not less than sixteen years of age who
are canonically resident as of the first day of the month in which the
meeting is held. The qualified voters present shall constitute a
quorum.” Nominations may come from the floor provided that the
nominator and nominee are communicants in good standing; faithful in
worship, support and giving. Nominees are expected to pledge. Before nominating someone please
check with the person to make sure they meet these
qualifications and notify the nominating committee that you intend to
nominate this person. The five nominees receiving the most votes
(provided they each receive 50%+ of the vote) will be elected. If there
are not five elected on the first ballot, subsequent ballots will be
held until five nominees receive 50%+ of the vote.
